Healthy Marriage Tip…

IT’S ABOUT THE TEAM

A relationship is a team in every way imaginable. Teamwork always requires the consideration of each team member’s feelings, thoughts, skills, goals, and weaknesses. Each player is interdependent. Strong marriages flourish in proportion to the willingness of each member to grasp the teamwork approach. When the team wins, each person on the team wins.

From the Students

We often wonder what kind of impact we make, well here are a few letters from students in our community related to the message that we are trying to spread.

–”What Mrs. Josie taught us were things we will remember for the rest of our lives… She helped me figure out that I’m more than what’s under my clothes. Before this program my lifestyle was wild and careless on somethings. I was planning on joining a gang, but after Mrs. Josie crying and telling me that’s the wrong thing to do, I’ve changed my mind. I can do so much more in life. Thanks Mrs. Josie for helping me change the negative in my life and making it positive.”  – B. J. –

–”This class has really been effective in my life. I have taken the knowledge and the skills that I have learned in this class to my daily life and it has helped me. Thank you for having this class, it has been great!” — R.B. –

–”I loved this class. I have been faced with drugs and difficult relationships before this class and didn’t know what to do. I was faced with both after taking this class and had the courage to do what was right.” — J.B. –

These are very profound statements from students in our schools. Always remember that our youth are listening and many are faced with difficult situations. Let’s join together to help our youth know that they are not alone in the fight against drugs, alcohol, and difficult relationships. Talk to your child today about what is going on in their life. You can help make a difference!

Guidelines for Chat Rooms

Never give out personal information (such as name, age, address, phone number, school, town, password, schedule, your picture) or fill out questionnaires or any forms online.

Never meet in person with anyone you have met online without Mom and/or Dad’s presence.

Do not enter a chat room without Mom and/or Dad’s presence or supervision. Some “kids” you meet in chat rooms may not really be kids; they may be adults with bad intentions. Remember, people may not be who they say they are.

Be suspicious of anyone who tries to turn you against your parents, teachers, or friends. They may have a hidden agenda.

Never respond to or send email or instant message to new people you meet online. Talk to your parents first so that they can check it out. Also, do not engage in an online conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable, log off and tell your parents. If you get such a message, DO NOT respond. Sending a response only encourages the person. Instead, show it to your parents and let them handle it.
